This week I've mostly been... looking at Waxwings and Bitterns

Over the last week I have been looking at the local Waxwings on Hinckley Road/Westcotes Drive and watching the Bitterns down at the reed bed at Watermead CP North.
Talking about the Waxwings as usual the shopping area on Hinckley Rd has been a favourite haunt for these birds in the last ten years and currently at least 150 birds have been noted.
With the Bitterns at Watermead at least three birds have been present in the reed bed by crake hide for the last ten days and would imagine that more people will be coming this site due to the photographic opportunities!

Heard a little story about a photographer who was in crake hide this morning...[a true story]!

This bloke had been poking his big fat lens out the hide and bemoaning the fact that a bittern was too close for him to fit the frame. After some time it was suggested...."Have you thought about zooming down a bit"...?

No he fuckin hadn't....

Also, as the hide was pretty full, someone asked this 'gentleman' whether their couple o kids could have a look at the showing bittern...and this bloke said "No...i'm taking pix"...etc..!!
At this point a lady intervened and said something along the lines off..."Look mate..you've been here snapping away and probably taking shit fuckin pix for the past couple of hours"...etc....and presumably suitably shamed he then departed....

ps...am pretty sure the lady involved didn't swear at the bloke as she was probably far too polite....
