Here is a couple of shots of Early Purple Orchid at Pickworth Great Wood in Rutland I took in early May.

Whereabouts at PGW do these grow Dave? I've never really looked, but whenever mothing there I haven't seen any orchids along the main tracks.

Mark, these were on the left hand side just after the start of the wood from the track up from the village.
Pickworth is suppose to be good for GBO as well!?

Ah - I think that most of the woodland to the east of the track up from the village is actually Holwell Wood in Lincs - I drive straight past this just before dusk normally. Did you go up as far as the locked gate to stop vehicles? The main part of PGW is the woodland either side of the main track heading south-west from this gate.
